New Year Spritzer
Bring in the New Year with a sweet, spicy and sparkling Cheers!
◦ I cup of dried hibiscus
◦ 1 small ginger root,
peeled and roughly chopped
◦ 3 dried pimento seeds
◦ 1 gallon of Water
◦ Organic Cane sugar or Agave
◦ Medium pot
◦ Medium container
◦ Large spoon
Serves 8-10 guests
In a medium pot pour a half gallon of water and bring to a boil.
Turn heat off and add hibiscus flowers, ginger and pimento seeds.
Cover the pot and steep 8 hours or overnight.
Using a colander and another medium pot or container, strain the hibiscus, ginger and pimento seeds.
Sweeten the liquid with sugar or agave. Stir until evenly sweetened. If it tastes too
bitter, dilute with water. Adjust sweetness.
Transfer to a gallon or pitcher and refrigerate until ready to serve.
When ready to serve add champagne. You can add it on top of the flutes as a finishing or add to the pitcher.
*To make a mocktail use sparkling water instead of Champagne.
